Transylvanian Prince Ferenc I rakotsi (1645-1676) \u2013 ruled our region since 1660. He was married to the beautiful Ilona Zrini<\/a>, who was the daughter of the Croatian ban Peter Zrinyi. Father-in-law and son-in-law loved their people very much and dreamed of freeing them from oppression Habsburg<\/a>. This led them to join the conspiracy against Austrian rule<\/p>\n\n

For a long time, the conspirators did not dare to speak openly. Meetings of the conspirators took place during the years 1666-1671. The conspiracy was organized Palatine Ferenc Uselen<\/a>, who began to develop plans to overthrow the Habsburg power together with the Croatian ban Peter Zrini and the Esztergom Bishop Derdem Lippai. The plot was called “under the rose”, since secret meetings of the conspirators took place in a hall decorated with a Gothic image of a rose on the ceiling. Ferenc I rakotsi himself joined the conspirators in 1670 in his castle in Sharoshpotok.<\/p>\n\n
