Gyorgy I Rakoczy<\/a> (1593-1648) is a heroic figure in the history of Transcarpathia. After the death of Gabor Bethlen, in 1630, Gyorgy<\/a> I became Prince of Transylvania. In 1633, he returned the property to the rakotsi family Mukachevsky castle<\/a>. Famous for participating in the thirty Years ‘ war of 1618-1648 on the side of the Swedes and Frenchmen’s<\/a>. In 1643, he managed to get rid of Habsburg’s<\/a> most of Hungarian<\/a> approaching the suburb of Presburg (now Bratislava), but succumbing to pressure, he concluded a truce with Austria. Concluded in 1645 the peace of Linz with Emperor Ferdinand III of Habsburg, guaranteed for Hungary freedom<\/a> religion and the return of Protestants<\/a> selected temples from them. Under the terms of the peace Gyorgy I rakotsi received seven personal property Hungarian<\/a> Comitatus and the title of Imperial Prince for himself and his descendants.<\/p>\n\n
