The territory of the Transcarpathian region in ancient times, when it was part of Hungarian Kingdom<\/a>, Austrian, and later The Austro-Hungarian<\/a> the Empire was divided into four administrative-territorial units, which were called comitates (the Slavic version of the name-zhupy) Ung<\/a>, Breg<\/a>, Maramorosh and Poca<\/a>. The largest Comitatus not only in Transcarpathia, but also in the wholeHungarians<\/a>was the Committee Maramoros. During the times of independent Ukraine, tyachevsky district of the Transcarpathian region, which occupies most of the former maramorush Comitatus, is the largest district in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n
