The population of Uzhgorod district without the city of Uzhgorod is about 70,000 people. The district includes one urban type village and 64 villages. The area is almost 900 square kilometers. This is the extreme western region of Ukraine. It is on its territory that the westernmost geographical point of Ukraine is located in the village of Solomonovo. Most of the territory is occupied by the Transcarpathian plain, adjacent to the Middle Danube plain, and the highest point is Mount Danube (1018 meters). The largest rivers are Tisa, Uzh and Latoritsa.

If we look at the map, we see that there are two borders – Slovakia and Hungary. Almost 60% of the district’s population is ethnic Ukrainians, the second largest is the Hungarians, who make up almost a third of its inhabitants, and Roma, Russians, Slovaks, Byelorussians, Germans and representatives of many other nationalities also live here.
The region is famous throughout Ukraine for its cognacs, wines and castles (Uzhgorod, Nevitsky and Srednyansky).

The area is growing more than 300 species of exotic plants, especially want to highlight the Japanese sakura, cypress, Himalayan pine, pavilion, magnolia.
Tourists are attracted to the Uzhgorod district by medieval castles and churches, monuments of landscape art, spas with healing mineral and thermal waters, wine tasting rooms.
