From the depths of the earth on the slope of the mountain Veliky Verh (height 1598 m) bursts down a small stream Ploshanka. Its waters are filled with freshness and coolness. Falling in several unique cascades from a fourteen-meter height, the crystal clear water of this stream breaks on the rocks, forming billions of bright drops that play in the sun with amazing colors in the rays and generate a melodious whisperводоспаду Spikes.
Tens of thousands of travelers come to see this natural masterpiece. The waterfall is beautiful at any time of the year. In summer, during the hottest periods, the waterfall is a small stream that snakes in a cascade along several rocky ledges. In winter, it partially freezes, creating original ice figures. And most of all, it attracts tourists in the spring, when the snow melts and in the autumn during heavy rains. It is at this time that the majestic giant thunders all around, telling an ancient legend about love.
In ancient times, two families lived in the village of Pilipets. In a rich family, a beautiful daughter grew up, who was the pride of her wealthy parents. Noble origin and remarkable beauty of the girl attracted many Barchukov. And the heart can not command: she fell in love with a young neighbor’s boy Ivan from a poor family. In order for no one to find out about their love, they began to meet in secret, at the Great Top mountain. In a deserted place, only the Carpathians witnessed their trysts.
And everything that is secret becomes clear sooner or later. Their love began to be talked about throughout the village, and gossip reached the girl’s mother. Once tracking down where her daughter was going in the evening, she witnessed their date. With anger in her heart, she began to scold the young couple in every possible way. Suddenly the sky thundered terribly, thunder crashed, lightning flashed, and a downpour began. Rushing huge streams of water instantly covered Ivan and Marichka and carried them into the abyss. At first they held hands, and then the waterfall forcibly separated them and threw them in opposite directions.
The girl’s mother, who witnessed the terrible tragedy, has since come to the waterfall every day and cried. Until on the night of Ivan Kupala, she thought she heard her daughter’s voice whispering words of love to Vanya. The shocked mother cried out in despair: “do you Hear the whisper people? They are whispering among themselves.” Since then, the waterfall has been nicknamed “Shipot”
The waterfall has been popular since 1993. At that time, a festival of youth subcultures began to be held here. Every summer, it attracts thousands of representatives of youth informal movements from all over the world.
