In recent decades, most of the rituals and beliefs associated with constructionhousing and outbuildings have disappeared. Those of them that remain are reinterpreted in accordance with the new conditions of public life and are fulfilled during the most important stage of construction huts.

In particular, when selecting places for construction, first of all, it is necessary that it is inaccessible to ground and waste water, protected from the wind and has a good view of the Sunny side. Often, a new hut is built on the site of the old one, if the last one during the stay in it the family was decimated by disaster, natural disasters, and the like.

Occasionally, according to the old tradition, in particular in the Hutsul region and Boykivshchyna, a young Smerichka or birch is buried on the site of the future house, sometimes a willow branch, which are inside until the walls are completed. Saplings or branches are decorated with colored ribbons.

By bookmark the basics (“ovaries“,” bookmarks“, “osnovani”) remained the tradition of putting coins in the corners, so that the new house”lived a lot”. After the head Yasin owners, as a rule, satisfied for the masters of the feast, which may also be present close relatives and neighbors.

After removing the walls and raising the first pair of rafters, a young Twister or birch, spruce or birch branches are nailed to it, which are decorated with colored ribbons and handkerchiefs, the latter are given to the masters. Sometimes, instead of handkerchiefs, Embroidered towels are tied to trees or branches, which are also given to masters. There is also a custom to nail to the threshold of the entrance door horseshoe – “for good and happiness.”

It has become a tradition to celebrate housewarming, to which relatives, neighbors, and work colleagues are invited. Guests come with gifts and wish the family health in the new house. In the last decade, the tradition of consecration of houses and outbuildings (domosyatiya), which is performed by a priest, has been revived.

All this shows the richness and original character of this area of folk culture of the Transcarpathians. It can be clearly seen how the features of the all-Ukrainian and Slavic elements, intertwining pre-Christian andChristian components’.
