Lake Synevyr, the Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center, and the village of Kolochava are extremely popular destinations for one-day children’s tours and excursions from Uzhhorod.
From the regional center of Zakarpattia to the “Sea Eye” of the Carpathians is only 175 km. Traveling this distance on a comfortable bus, you can admire the breathtaking panoramas of the enchanting Carpathians. Lake Synevyr itself is the largest mountain lake in the Ukrainian Carpathians. There are plenty of spots for amazing photos and unique souvenirs handmade by local craftsmen. In the middle of the lake, there is a small island that can be reached by ferry. Cozy cafes and restaurants nearby offer delicious traditional Zakarpattia cuisine.
Close to Lake Synevyr is the unique Brown Bear Rehabilitation Center, home to dozens of rescued bears. Children are delighted to meet them, and the bears themselves enjoy visits, especially when fed with food allowed by the administration.
A bit further, just over 30 km from Lake Synevyr, lies the fascinating open-air museum village of Kolochava. The highlight is the “Old Village” open-air museum, featuring an entire ensemble of authentic historical buildings harmoniously integrated into the landscape and filled with fascinating exhibits. Children especially love visiting the old school building and riding the railway handcar. Despite the busy program, they never complain of tiredness and always return full of joy and vivid impressions.
