“Detsa u notarya” is not just a restaurant, it is not so much the cuisine as the atmosphere that is important here: around it is a kind of museum of folk humor, created in 1995 by the famous Transcarpathian humorist and historian Pavlo Chuchka. The international humor festival “Carpathian wordplay” is taking place in the restaurant-museum. The name of the institution is deciphered very simply: “detsa” means “one hundred grams”, and “notary” means “notary”. The sign at the entrance to the restaurant says that this house was built for a public notary in 1940.
There are many funny attractions in the restaurant-museum. There is a “gypsy baron meter”, the funniest “cemetery” in Ukraine, and a tachanka. Even the menu here is so ridiculous that it had to be priced so that the guests of the establishment could buy it as a kind of souvenir.
The restaurant “Detsa u notarya” is open for visitors every day from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
