The memorial sign of Christ the Man-lover in the park
Among the new sights of Morshyn, you should definitely check out the memorial sign of Christ the Man-lover. It was erected in 2007 opposite the entrance to the town’s main pump room. This location has a very interesting history. The site of this memorial used to be a chapel of the Roman Catholic Church. After the Second World War, the atheistic Soviet government turned this shrine into a restaurant. However, this sacrilege did not go unpunished, as the restaurant later burned down. This mystical story was the reason why there were no new attempts to build secular objects on this site. Subsequently, an arch was installed on the site of the chapel and shortly after 2000, work began on the sculpture of Jesus Christ. The authors of this remarkable memorial project were the architect Oleh Frantskevych and the sculptor Roman Romanovych.
Believers of various Christian denominations constantly come to pray at the Christ the Man-lover memorial. In addition, every year a prayer service is held near the memorial for the graduates of the K. Maletsky Morshyn Lyceum.
