All mineral springs of Morshyn

In Morshyn, mineral waters are used for therapeutic purposes internally (by drinking, washing, irrigation, inhalation), and also for external use by taking baths, rain or circular showers, Charcot showers and underwater shower-massages.

Morshyn mineral water is extracted from natural springs, where water makes its way out of the ground on its own in the middle of the ecologically clean beech forests of Morshyn. After reaching the surface, the water is stored in special water intake structures – kaptazhas – which protect the springs and water from external influences. The area near the springs is protected and belongs to the closed sanitary control zones.

In total, there are three mineral springs in Morshyn – No. 1, No. 6 and No. 4. In order to achieve the optimal therapeutic effect of Morshyn mineral waters from sources No. 1, No. 4, No. 6, a comprehensive treatment should be carried out, which is successful due to the combination of internal water intake, according to the prescription scheme, and hydrocolonotherapy, intestinal irrigation and external methods of balneotherapy (mineral baths, hydrolaser therapy, etc.).

Each of Morshyn mineral springs is worth telling you about in more detail.

Morshyn spring #1 is presented as a 50 m deep mine well, which is fixed with a 2×2 m wooden log cabin. The well itself was built in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries for the purpose of salt extraction. It has been used for medicinal purposes since 1878.

The water in the source #1 is highly mineralised (brine, brine) with a mineralisation level that increases in direct proportion to the depth of the well from 16g/l to 400g/l. It has a pronounced choleretic and diuretic effect, and also has a general healing effect.

In terms of its chemical composition, it is sodium chloride-sulfate, potassium magnesium water. This water is also enriched with copper, zinc, iron, aluminium, strontium, titanium and cobalt in proportions that are beneficial for the body.

The water from this source is used both externally (brine from the surface layer of the well) and internally (brine from the bottom layer).

Indications for the use of water from Source #1 are diseases of the digestive system: chronic gastritis with low and normal secretory function and gastric acidity, colitis, enterocolitis with increased motor-evacuation function, pancreatitis, diseases of the hypatobiliary system, diseases of the liver, gallbladder and biliary tract, large intestine, gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Thanks to the healing effects of this unique water:

• inflammatory processes in the digestive tract are reduced;
• increases the hourly tension of secretion, increases the acidity and digestive power of the juice;
• actively stimulates the evacuation function of the stomach;
• improves absorption processes, which is necessary in the treatment of patients with post-resection syndrome and intestinal diseases with signs of impaired absorption;
• Drinking hot water slows down the motor function of the intestines, stops fermentation and decomposition processes in the colon, and stops the absorption of pathological decomposition products;

In addition, water from Source #1 promotes oxidative processes, which helps to better regulate fat metabolism of nutritional, neurogenic and endocrine origin. Drinking water from this spring significantly improves metabolism, the functioning of the immune and nervous systems.

Water from this spring can be drunk at the Gribok pump room in the very centre of Morshyn.

Spring #1, also known as Boniface, is a hydrological natural monument of local significance and is located on an area of 0.65 hectares east of the Morshyn railway station on the banks of the Berezhnytsia River.

Source #6 is relatively young, having been put into operation in 1968. The water from this spring, as well as from spring #1, can be tasted in the “Hrybok” pump room, which is the central pump room of Morshyn.

This water is magnesium-potassium-sodium sulphate. Its main difference from the water from source #1 is the high content of magnesium and potassium sulphates and relatively low content of sodium chloride. The mineralisation level of this spring is 238 g/l.

Water from Source #6 perfectly treats the stomach, liver, biliary tract, pancreas and intestines, has a choleretic, diuretic effect and a general health-improving effect. Doctors recommend drinking this water if available:

• gastritis;
• gastric and duodenal ulcers;
• preserved and increased acidity;
• diseases of the liver, gallbladder and biliary tract;
• diseases of the large intestine with a tendency to constipation.

Due to its healing properties, this mineral water effectively eliminates inflammatory processes of the stomach, pancreas, intestines, liver, gallbladder, helps patients after surgery on the gastroduodenal organs, restores gastric secretory functions, activates cellular and parietal enzymes, improves absorption, increases the concentration of gastrin and secretin, which promotes trophic action, stimulates bile formation and bile secretion, prevents bile lithogenicity (it is a means of reducing the risk of stone formation in the gallbladder and biliary tract), restores and stabilises protein-forming, carbohydrate antitoxic functions of the liver, intensifies arterial blood flow and outflow of the liver, reduces pressure in the pulmonary artery, normalises metabolism, significantly reduces cholesterol, B-lipoproteins, blood sugar, increases glucose tolerance in diabetics, improves the intensity of oxidative processes, which helps people suffering from obesity to lose weight. Due to increase in hepatic circulation intensity, tissue hypoxia of liver cells is reduced, which helps to normalise their function. Due to the presence of potassium and magnesium ions in this water, the body improves water-electrolyte metabolism and acid-base balance, normalises the metabolism of the heart muscle, and increases the number of bifidus and lactobacilli in the intestines, which improves the biocenosis of the colon. In addition, the amount of conditionally pathogenic microflora in the body decreases, and there is a natural decrease in intoxication. Also, mineral water from source No. 6 is used as a radar, as it helps to quickly remove cesium radionuclides from the body. This water effectively removes toxins, carcinogens and nitrates from the body, helps to improve metabolism, the state of the immune and nervous systems.

The closest sanatoriums to the pump room with mineral waters from springs #1 and #6 are Arkadia, which is located at a distance of 46 metres, and Morshynsky, which is 75 metres away.

The entrance to the central pump room of Morshyn, where you can draw water from springs #1 and #6, is paid and costs 30 UAH per day.

The Mother of God Spring No. 4 is located in Morshyn on Dzherelna Street (0.36 hectares) near the central pump room. Since 1984, it has been a hydrological natural monument of local significance.

According to legend, in ancient times, two children were playing near this spring and saw the image of the Mother of God. It is believed that since then the water in this spring has become extremely healing. To commemorate those legendary events, a sculpture of the Mother of God was erected above the spring. The water itself flows near the hand of the mermaid bas-relief.

According to historical sources, this natural source of healing water was discovered back in 1879. Its composition is bicarbonate-calcium water with impurities of potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron and sulphates. Its composition is close to human blood plasma. This water is table water and can be safely consumed daily by all people without exception. It is water from source No. 4 that can be seen on the shelves of many Ukrainian supermarkets. This water is the most popular mineral water in Ukraine.

Numerous studies of this water have confirmed that it has the same properties as Jordanian water. The healing power of source No. 4 is enormous due to its correct crystal structure (hexagonal, like after the Christmas blessing), low mineralisation, weak radioactivity, high content of organic carbon, nitrogen and specific microflora.

Drinking this water:
