The village of Verkhovyna is located in the Ivano-Frankivsk region at an altitude of more than 600 meters above sea level, and is the administrative center of the Verkhovyna district. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1424. Until 1962, the village was called Jabie. The population of Verkhovyna is almost 6,000 people.
