Vorokhta

A small village Vorokhta, surrounded by pristine nature, attracts tourists from many countries. It is located in the Nadvirnyan district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region at an altitude of more than 800 meters above sea level. The village of Vorokhta was founded in 1568, and received its current name in 1598. The population is more than 4 thousand people.

Rest in Vorokhta is active and calmer. Tourists can admire the unique wooden Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin, built in 1615 and transported from the village of Yablunytsia in 1780. No nails were used in the construction of the wooden building.

At a distance of 100 meters from the Church of the Nativity of the Holy Virgin, another wooden church of Peter and Paul of 1930 surprises tourists with its beauty. Near the railway station is the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1905, interesting in its architecture.

Vorokhta also has a viaduct with arches, its total length is 130 meters. This stone bridge, built in 1894-1895, is the longest in Europe.

Skiing enthusiasts will not be left out either. Only 18 km away is Bukovel, where there are tracks for beginners and professionals. Beginners can skate in Vorokhta itself, the length of the track is of average difficulty – 500 m. There are also ski jumps with artificial snow cover. The city is surrounded by Carpathian National Nature Park, established in 1980. Its area is more than 500 square kilometers.
