Yavirnyk or Yavornyk is a peak in the Ukrainian Carpathians, in the Polonyn Beskid massif. It is located within the Uzhhorod district of the Transcarpathian region, at a distance of up to 10 kilometers to the east of the village of Velikiy Berezny.
Once upon a time, a Turkish princess settled in the valley of the Uzh river, “by coincidence” also an evil witch. People called her the Bad Maiden for her cruelty. When the princess decided to build an impregnable fortress on a high mountain, she ordered lime to be quenched not only with egg whites, but also with mother’s milk for strength.
In 2010, the Honey House tasting hall was opened by the family of beekeepers Ludmila and Viktor Peresta as part of the Transcarpathia honey tourism route.
The Pokrovsky Monastery is located in the village of Rakoshino, Mukachevo District, Zakarpattia Oblast, not far from the city of Mukachevo. The history of this monastery goes back to the distant 1920s. In those days, an Orthodox church was built on the site of the present monastery.
