The Pokrovsky Monastery is located in the village of Rakoshino, Mukachevo District, Zakarpattia Region, not far from the city of Mukachevo. The history of this monastery goes back to the distant 1920s. In those days, an Orthodox church was built on the site of the present monastery. Vsevolod Volodymyrovych Kolomatskyi (1896-1980), an emigrant from Dnipro Ukraine, was the author of the church construction project. During the First World War, he miraculously escaped death after receiving as many as 7 wounds. After settling in Transcarpathia, he took the rank of priest and became the author of construction projects for several Orthodox churches in Zakarpattia, including the Church of the Intercession in Uzhhorod, which is his most famous masterpiece.
