The Castles of Transcarpathia are the perfect location for an educational and engaging introduction of school-age children to the enchanting magic of the past of their homeland.
The most famous and photogenic castle of the Transcarpathian region is the renowned Mukachevo Palanok. It is located just over 40 kilometers from the regional center of Transcarpathia, the city of Uzhhorod. This majestic fortress on a hilltop protected the heart of Europe for centuries against countless waves of invaders. Today, it houses a historical museum where children can learn about the most fascinating pages of Transcarpathian history.
Equally fascinating is the incredible Chynadiyovo Castle of Love Saint Miklós, located 13 kilometers from the Mukachevo Castle. From the outside it may not be as photogenic as Palanok, but it impresses with its original approach to museum work inside. This fortress was saved from ruin by artist Yosyp Yosypovych Bartosh, who has been persistently restoring this valuable historical and architectural monument.
At the end of our tour, we will visit the territory of the Karpaty Sanatorium. Here, just 6 kilometers from the Chynadiyovo Castle, stands the majestic masterpiece of romantic architecture — the Beregvar Castle-Palace, once belonging to the famous Schӧnborn dynasty. The sanatorium grounds feature a mini-zoo, a picturesque lily pond, a souvenir market, the healing “Spring of Beauty,” and a large cozy park in English style.
This excursion is perfect both for younger pupils and high school students. The program of our castle tour in Transcarpathia is designed with maximum attention to children’s needs and interests. Kids always return full of new knowledge and wonderful impressions.

12:30 – an exciting tour of the Castle of Love Saint Miklós with a short walk through the fortress’s secret passages.
13:15 – free time, photography, souvenir shopping.
14:00 – excursion to the Karpaty Sanatorium with its Beregvar Castle-Palace.
15:00 – lunch and relaxation, walk along the scenic lakeshore, taste water from the “Spring of Beauty,” and buy souvenirs.
17:00 – return to Uzhhorod.
18:00 – end of the tour, arrival in Uzhhorod.
