Plan of climbing Hoverla and excursion programme
The difference between this hike and the usual tour with climbing to the peaks of Hoverla and Petros is that instead of tents, tourists will be hosted at night in a mountain estate near Hoverla. This option is much more comfortable, besides, another advantage is that we will go to conquer Hoverla without bulky backpacks. We will take only some food for a snack and a waterproof jacket. In addition to conquering Hoverla, we will take part in several excursions, which will allow us to see many interesting locations and fully immerse ourselves in the incredible atmosphere for three days Carpathians!
Walk along the Dovbush trail – excursion to Bukovel – transfer to Kozmeshchyk
After meeting and getting to know each other in the morning at the Ivano-Frankivsk railway station, we will set off on our journey in a comfortable bus! On our way, we will first stop in the city of Yaremche, where we will take a fascinating walk along the Dovbush trail. There is a legend that it was in this place that the famous “Carpathian Robin Hood” Oleksa Dovbush buried the gold and jewellery that his opryshky units had obtained in the 1730s and 1740s.
As we walk along this path, we will see a picturesque coniferous forest and picturesque scatterings of stones. In addition, we will meet several large rocks on our way. From them you can admire the incredible view of the Prut River canyon.
After an incredible photo shoot, we will get back on the bus to go to the elite ski resort of Ukraine – Bukovel. Life here is in full swing not only in winter, when skiers from all over Ukraine come here. In the warm season, Bukovel also remains a holiday destination for many tourists. There are a huge number of different attractions here, and tourists sunbathe on the beaches of the Bukovel Sea 🙂 Having looked around the mountain valley in the middle of the “Lake of Youth“, We will take a lift up high to admire the incredible scenery of gorges and mountain ranges. In clear weather, you can even see the highest peak of Ukraine – Mount Hoverla! Looking at it from this angle is enough to appreciate the scale and power of the peak.
The next point on the programme of our voyage to Bukovel will be a visit to the ethno park “Hutsul Land“. This attractive tourist destination consists of a skansen (an open-air ethnographic complex), a petting zoo and an art gallery. Visiting the skansen, you will be able to enter the unique monuments of nineteenth-century wooden architecture represented by old houses that once stood in the Carpathian villages. First of all, tourists’ attention is drawn to the Hutsul house, which gives the impression of a powerful wooden fortification rather than a simple shepherd’s manor. The interiors of the huts are filled with folk household items and works of art that vividly convey the atmosphere of those times! When you enter such a hut, you feel as if you are in a time machine that has transported you one or two centuries into the past. In the Hutsul Land skansen, tourists not only observe frozen objects of the past, but can also see the past in dynamics and movement, watching the traditional preparation of cheese or working at an ancient loom. All this gives the ethnopark an interactivity that many museums lack. A visit to the zoo also leaves a great impression.:)
At the end of the first day, full of positive impressions from the excursions around Bukovel, we will take a bus and go on the road to Yablunytskyi pass to the mountain village of Kozmeshchyk. There we will stay in a very romantic place in a wooden house near the Lazeshchyna River and Mount Hoverla.
Climbing Hoverla
The second day of our voyage to the Carpathians will be devoted to conquering the highest point of Ukraine – Mount Hoverla. After an early rise, we will immediately hit the road! You will only need to have a small backpack with you, in which you will have to pack a raincoat, jacket, water bottle, personal first aid kit and some food for lunch. Our trail will run through a spruce forest. Then we will get to an open ridge. This place offers the best view of the beautiful Hoverla. On clear, sunny summer days, Hoverla is crowded with many people from all over Ukraine. All of them are fulfilling their cherished dream of climbing to the highest point of their homeland. The effort spent on the climb is not in vain, as the top of Hoverla offers one of the best views of the Carpathians! All Montenegrin massif You can see everything here in the palm of your hand! If you look into the distance, you can admire the stony Gorgany Mountains, the rocky Marmaros and even the Romanian Rodna Mountains. After climbing to the tops, we take lots of photos as a souvenir 🙂
After we have enjoyed the maximum pleasure of contemplating and photographing the magical landscapes of the Carpathians, we will rest and satisfy our hunger with sandwiches, and then we will have a leisurely simple descent down. We will go down the same way we came up. In the evening, after returning to the house, we will have a hearty dinner at the common table, after which we will share our positive emotions and impressions until the night. 🙂
Mineral spring in Kvasy – Trufanets Waterfall – Probiy Waterfall and souvenir market in Yaremche – Ivano-Frankivsk
The third day of our trip will begin with an excursion to the famous village of Kvasy. This village is famous for its healing springs mineral water. We will definitely taste the unique mineral water, and if you wish, you can take it with you on the road. After tasting the mineral water, we will definitely visit the famous Hutsul brewery Tsypa located in Kvasy. A unique feature of craft beer brewing at this location is the use of healing water from a natural spring. Near the village of Kvasy, we will visit the highest cascading waterfall in the Ukrainian Carpathians. It is the Trufanets waterfall with a total height of over 36 metres. This picturesque masterpiece of nature is formed by several cascades. The stream that forms the Trufanets waterfall begins its descent from an altitude of 1700 metres in the immediate vicinity of Mount Bliznytsia.
After the waterfall, our next stop will be in the town of Yaremche, to which we will be taken by minibus. This tiny Prykarpattia town has a surprisingly interesting and rich history. The locals have always fought against any oppression by foreign enslavers. It is not surprising that back in the 18th century, many Yaremche residents joined the opryshky units led by Oleksa Dovbush. Due to its extremely beautiful nature, Yaremche has long been known as a famous resort. The development of Yaremche as a resort began in 1894. At that time, the town began to be actively built up with villas. As early as 1896, the Yaremche Tourist Club was established. Members of the club were actively involved in marking tourist routes in the mountains near the town. During our tour of Yaremche, we will see the mighty Probiy waterfall, which is formed by the Prut River, and have the opportunity to find many products of folk artists by visiting the souvenir market. The masterpieces made by folk craftsmen are a vivid reflection of the traditions and history of this blessed land.
In the evening, we will finish our journey, arriving at the starting point of this wonderful tour – the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. When buying tickets for your return journey, please make sure to book trains that depart from Frankivsk after 6pm.
