Ski resort Kosiv

Located among the picturesque Carpathians, Kosiv is a great location for a ski holiday. Unlike Bukovel and Dragobrat, the prices here are very affordable, and the queues for the lifts are minimal.

The ski slopes in Kosiv itself are located in the incredibly picturesque Hutsulshchyna National Park. The slopes are located on the highest peak of Kosovo, Mount Mykhalkiv (812 m). From this mountain, in good weather in the south-west, you can even see the highest peak of Ukraine – Hoverla. For the convenience of tourists, an observation deck in the form of a wooden gazebo is arranged at the top of Mykhalkiv Mountain.

Ski holidays in Kosiv

This picturesque place was chosen for the construction of ski slopes back in 1975. Back then, a rope tow lift was installed here and 5 trails of varying difficulty were laid.

Description of the ski slopes of Kosiv

Today, ski enthusiasts on Myhalkiv Mountain can enjoy two downhill runs of 1,200 metres each, a 500-metre-long special slalom run, a 1,000-metre-long giant slalom run and a 250-metre-long artificial turf run.

These trails are equipped with two drag lifts with a length of 1000 m with a height difference of 250 m and a length of 250 m with a height difference of 75 m. The lift capacity is up to 600 people per hour. The lifts on Kosiv slopes are open daily from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the season.

Kosiv slopes are of medium to high difficulty. They have a good height difference (up to 250 m) and are not hilly, which makes it easy to ride with the wind, getting maximum pleasure from the descent.

In recent years, the ski slopes in Kosiv have been actively restored on the basis of the Gorodiv Ski School. You can find the ski slopes on Myhalkiv Mountain at 48.29771423 25.06954575

Cost of winter holidays in Kosiv

There is a ski equipment rental centre at the foot of Mykhalkiv Mountain. Prices are quite reasonable, and the selection of skis and snowboards is extensive.

Ski beginners can book individual lessons with an instructor at affordable prices.

Ski resorts on the outskirts of Kosiv

In addition to the ski slopes of Kosiv itself, you can also go skiing in the Kosiv district:

  • a rope tow in the village of Yavoriv (ST “Ukraine”) with an average difficulty of the route and a 250 m long rope tow with a height difference of 75 m;
  • a rope tow lift with equipment rental in the village of Sheshory with an average difficulty of the track and an 800-metre-long lift with a height difference of 75 metres;
  • a drag lift with equipment rental and an instructor in the village of Tyudiv (Sokilske TEC) with an average route difficulty, with a lift length of 200 m and trails 400, 500, 600 m long with a height difference of 75 m.

Most of the ski slopes in Kosiv district are not crowded, so they are safe and comfortable enough for beginners, and the absence of snowmobiles makes the Kosiv district’s slopes attractive for freeride enthusiasts.
