Going for a hike in the mountains on the outskirts of the city Kosiv, First of all, you should visit the picturesque Ostryi Mountain, which is located on the border of Horod and Kosiv.
This 584-metre-high domed peak is part of the Pokutsko-Bukovyna mountain range of the Carpathians in the north-west of the Golitsa ridge. The peak is separated from the ridge itself by the channel of the Ostryi stream.

The slopes of Ostryi Mountain are covered with a dense beech and larch forest, where a walk through the forest gives you the opportunity to breathe in the fresh mountain air, admire the fabulous landscapes of the Carpathians, and, if you are lucky, pick up mushrooms. In the summer, tourists and Kosiv residents alike enjoy doing yoga on the mountain top. It is an ideal place for peace and unity with nature.
After a fire that burned down all the trees on the top, Mount Ostryi became a convenient place to view the surrounding area. It is the best location in Kosiv to admire the magnificent panoramas of the city and surrounding villages, as well as the mountain peaks and ridges of the Pokutsko-Bukovyna Carpathians:
In 2016, on the initiative of activist and guide Taras Pasymko, a convenient observation deck with places for taking photos, relaxing, lighting fires and setting up hammocks was set up for the many crowds of tourists at the top of Mount Ostryi.

Mount Ostryi is very convenient for day hikes from the city of Kosiv. It takes an average of 2-3 hours to get up here. You should take your time on the way to save your strength and get the most out of your trip.
There are three routes to get to the top of Mount Ostryi:
The easiest and most optimal route is the Green Route. It starts from the cosy Volodar estate. You can easily overcome it on your own. Even children and people with limited mobility can do it.
The Blue and Red routes should only be completed with an experienced guide. Compared to the Green route, the Blue route is shorter but much steeper. It starts from the mass grave in the village of Horod (the landmark is a large mound with a white iron cross) and runs along a barely visible path.
The red route is a real challenge, you will have to overcome it on four legs. It is a steep path from the Mykhalkiv mountain.
