In ancient times, salt in Solotvino was extracted by an open method. Salescoach just dug a stepped hole, the depth of which reached twenty meters. Then they began to dig cone-shaped or ” devil’s holes, the depth of which could reach one hundred and fifty meters. We descended into these conical pits by special routes one of the other ladders, and large chunks of salt rose from the pit wrapped in special the nets are woven from ropes or Buffalo hide. Then they were separated at the level of the cube, each of which was marked with the miner’s personal brand and given to a special official, who was in the Royal service.
The wages of the miners in those days were scanty. Therefore, it is not surprising that they often rebelled. The first documented strike of the solotva miners took place in 1551. Solembum then managed to meet their power requirements.
