Detailed description of the museum of folk art from the collection of M. Strutynskyi (Kosiv)
The museum’s exhibits are located in two large halls and a corridor. Its exposition includes traditional clothes collected in Hutsul, Pokuttya, Podillia, Bukovyna and Opillya (the collection of keptsars is particularly interesting), ancient icons, objects of sacred art, masterpieces of painting, samples of ceramics, embroidery, and weaving, musical instruments (cymbals, violins, flutes and trembitas), old photographs, wooden household items decorated with artistic carvings (barrels, boklags, chests, spindles, counters), leather goods (boots, stilts, jewellery, belts, bags) and much more. The museum’s collections include more than 10,000 items.
In addition to excursions and exhibitions, the museum of folk art from the collection of Mykhailo Strutynskyi regularly hosts interesting master classes in weaving, basketry (basket weaving) and needlework. A very interesting masterclass in weaving is held on an authentic traditional loom. Sewing wedding wreaths is very popular among the needlework workshops.
