Detailed description of the Malyavsky family museum in Kosiv
The artist Gennadiy Kindratovych Malyavskyi was born in the village of Rudka, Ternopil region. He studied at the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts. In 1961, he started teaching at the Kosiv School of Applied Arts. It was here that he met his future wife Anastasiya Yusypchuk.
The overwhelming majority of Gennadiy Malyavskyi paintings are in the genres of portraiture and landscape. They are executed in watercolour, oil, tempera and graphic techniques. Hennadii Maliavskyi’s landscapes celebrate the incredible beauty of the Hutsul region with its picturesque mountains, rivers, forests and waterfalls.
Anastasiya Malyavska, who was lovingly called “yalynka” at home, collected a large collection of samples of embroidery ornaments from Lviv, Ternopil, and Carpathian region throughout her life. She made countless women’s costumes decorated with embroidery with a wide use of folk ornaments.
The museum’s exposition is divided into four halls:
- In the first hall you can see wonderful paintings.
- The exhibits in the second hall are dedicated to the founding of the Hutsul Art Association.
- The third hall contains images of architectural and spiritual monuments of ancient times.
- And the fourth hall can be conditionally called “miscellaneous”.
