KOKA Museum of the Strynadyuk Family in Kosiv
This private museum opened its doors to visitors in 2017. The founder of this wonderful museum was the famous master carver Mykola Strynadyuk. The museum operates at his creative workshop. The name comes from the author’s creative pseudonym, KOKA. This is how Mykola called himself in his early childhood, when he could not speak. He used to say, “I’m KOKA the little one”. Nowadays, Mykola Strynadyuk is considered one of the best carvers of the entire Hutsul region. And Koka has become the brand under which Mykola’s sons Zakhar (KokaInArt) and Bohdan (KokaWood) work.
Very close by is the Museum of Sacred Art, was founded by Mykola’s brother Taras Strynadyuk.

Detailed description of the Strynadyuk family museum KOKA in Kosiv
Mykola Strynadyuk works are characterised by traditional carving techniques, which are harmoniously complemented by toning, applications and even embroidery. The abundance of various ornaments and motifs in his works gives them a special dynamics. Thanks to the synthesis of different types of art and an unconventional approach to traditional Hutsul woodcarving, Mykola Strynadyuk masterpieces literally hypnotise tourists. The museum space is filled with the author’s elusive inner energy.
The exposition of the KOKA museum consists of one hundred of Mykola Strynadyuk original works in the form of ornamental icons, plates, paintings, copies of Hutsul handmade crosses, traditional zgardas and modern jewellery. In addition, the museum’s exhibits include valuable collections of ancient porcelain cups and highly artistic Easter eggs.
The tour of the museum conducted by Mr Mykola is extremely informative, interesting and full of the master’s creative energy. And the hospitality of the hosts evokes a sense of calm and comfort.
