Rosokhata cheese factory

Another excellent cheese dairy is located in the Rosokhata valley near the village of Sheshory. From here to Kosiv about 19 km away. This cheese factory is located in an authentic wooden “kolyba”. The main feature of this cheese dairy is that it provides an opportunity to observe Hutsuls, who live and work in the meadow for 6 months in close proximity to civilisation, preserving their grandfather’s traditions and producing incredibly tasty and healthy cheese, butter, vurda and bryndza according to ancient recipes.

Vasyl Mykolaiovych Kravchuk, an experienced master of this craft and a leader of Hutsul shepherds-cheesemakers, is happy to tell tourists about the Hutsul cheese-making traditions. He explains in a very interesting and accessible way the peculiarities of making brynza, budza, and vurda.

In addition, Rosokhata Cheese Factory provides an opportunity to taste and buy the masterpieces of the Polonynska Valley cheese and dairy products, as well as to take part in the preparation of traditional Hutsul banush.
