Fedor usually cut his way along secret paths. One winter, he went out on the ice of the Turitsa River, fell in and died of a cold. Grateful fellow villagers erected a monument in his honor and hung a memorial plaque outside the local church. Even now there is an inscription: “In memory of the benevolence, sober lifestyle, diligence and honesty of Fedor Feketa, who died in 1838.”
It is believed that fate itself led him to choose such a specialty. The boy’s father went to work in the USA, and the child was constantly waiting for news from him. Later, the young man himself decided to become a postman in order to speed up his return home. There was always a lot of work, so such workers were always very respected.
Nowadays, no one wanted to embarrass such a famous colleague. That is why even now the Perechina post office is considered the best in the country.
In 2010, the largest horseshoe sculpture in Ukraine was installed in the city. Its height is 2550 mm, and its width is 2015 mm. The stone base is approximately 1 m long. The monument was made in A. Putrashyk’s “Three Ivany” forge.
In the winter of 2016, a statue of Nicholas the Wonderworker, the patron saint of the poor and destitute, appeared in Perechyn, who is the patron saint of the city.
In the spring of the following year, the first mini-sculpture “Frog” by M. Kolodka was established here. The sculpture tells about the culinary history of animal paws. After the Napoleonic wars, captive Frenchmen stopped at Turya Remet, who preferred such exotic dishes.
At the end of the following year, a mini-composition “House of the Tooth Fairy” was opened in Perechyn next to a 200-year-old oak tree on City Day.
