Spiritual and ecological centre β€œZdvyzhyn”

The Zdvyzhyn Spiritual and Ecological Centre (SEC) is located on a high mountain in an oak forest near the village of Kobaki, Kosiv district, Ivano-Frankivsk region, at the place where the Mother of God appeared to local peasant Mykola Bukatchuk on 11 October 1934. This contemplation of the Mother of God radically changed the way of life for him and many other people. Mykola erected a cross at the place of the Virgin’s appearance.

As the summers passed, this spiritual monument was destroyed not only by rains, winds, and time… But the cross in the forest was restored every time it was destroyed.

This place has become a pilgrimage for many people. People come here to heal themselves spiritually and physically.

The Kosiv District Council and the District State Administration supported the initiative of the All-Ukrainian and District Hutsulshchyna Societies, the Rayagrolis enterprise, and the Hutsulshchyna National Park to create the Zdvyzhyn Spiritual and Ecological Centre for Christian Harmony and Love (the original name of the village of Kobaki). There is a memorial cross here, as well as a spiritual temple, a chapel, a statue of the Mother of God, a Way of the Cross, and an ecological trail. There are benches and a gazebo selling literature for visitors to relax.

Workshop by Ivanna Kozak-Dyleta

Ivanna Kozak-Dileta from Kosovo is a master of artistic ceramics, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1995). She was awarded the NUAU Medal β€˜For Creative Achievements’. She was born on 7 July 1959 in Kosiv. She graduated from the Kosiv College of Folk Arts and Crafts. She is a good master of the traditional painting techniques for Kosovo ceramics (rituvannya and rozhkovannya), one of the best craftsmen and one of the modern followers of the great dynasty of Kosovo ceramists Sovizdraniuks-Roshchybyuks. For a long time she worked in the ceramic workshop of the Kosiv Regional Organisation of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Since the 2000s, the artist has gradually moved to her own studio.

Together with her husband Bohdan Diletia, they have achieved a closed, i.e. complete technological process of producing painted ceramics.

The master’s ornaments are influenced by the style of Hanna Roshchybyuk and Orysia Kozak. She decorates such items as jars, bowls, pots, pans, aubergines, cups, twins, vases, decorative plates and dishes, both on a white background and on brown, with stripes of rhythmically repeating motifs of geometric and floral ornaments.

The artist’s artistic style is most characterised by the products painted using the technique of carving on red clay with white angoba. Like her mother, she has an exquisite lace ornament. The range of products is diverse, including the Christmas set, animalistic plastic, tiles with painted backgrounds and one of the latest forms – a bath with an ear for holy Jordan water.

Hutsulshchyna National Park (Hutsul Room project)

Here, the unique natural beauty is combined with the ethnic, historical and cultural heritage of the Hutsuls. It is a land of originality. A place where traditions, rituals and folk crafts have been preserved. This is where the estate of St Nicholas is located.

The landscapes and panoramas of untouched nature are breathtaking. The park is located in the wooded part of the Pokutsko-Bukovyna Carpathians, where forests are one of the largest and most valuable assets. The virgin and old-growth forests are especially valuable. They are home to deer, roe deer, wild boars, and occasionally brown bears, lynxes, and forest cats.

The park has discovered 1,214 species of mushrooms and fungi, 23 of which are listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine. The park’s employees use a unique re-situ methodology that makes it possible to grow rare mushrooms in natural conditions.

The park’s territory is also dotted with numerous rivers and streams. The largest of them are Liuchka, Pistynka, Rybnytsia, and Cheremosh, which are right tributaries of the Prut River. In the mountainous areas and when leaving the mountains, the rivers form rifts, pools, and waterfalls, which the local population calls β€˜huks’ because of the roar and noise they cause.
