The first written mention of the village dates back to 1232. The population of the village is two thousand people. In the village, known for its vineyards, two ancient churches have been preserved: the ruins of the Dominican church of 1117 (rebuilt in the 16th century) in the field behind the village on the Berehova side and a later church of the 18th century (according to other sources – the 14th century) in the center of the village. The location of the ancient temple can be found using the special “architectural sign” index, which is used to mark almost all places of interest from a tourist point of view in Zakarpattia Oblast.
