The village of Turyi Remety is known for its French culinary traditions. In the village cafe, you can enjoy frog legs and turtle soup. The fact is that in the first half of the XIX century, French soldiers of Napoleon’s army were captured in the village. Most of them, amazed by the beauty of the Carpathians and our girls, started families here and stayed forever in Transcarpathia. According to legend, the Remets were monks who lived in a cave monastery on Mount Magura. The first part of the name comes from the name of the Turya River. Its population is over three thousand people.
