The Obava stone is a unique natural monument of the Mukachevo district of the Zakarpattia region. It is the crater of a volcano whose age is 20 million years. The place is located west of the village of Synyak at the junction of the Plishka and Tovstiy ridges, which are part of the Synyak mountain massif. Due to its incredible scenery, it is very popular among tourists.
The top of the Obava stone is at an altitude of 979 meters above sea level. The entire area is densely covered with vegetation: oaks, beeches and hornbeams, which gives the mountain a special identity and color. Rock formations more than 80 meters high have formed in the upper part – they are excellent viewing platforms. The top is equipped with a wooden table and benches, which are a favorite place for picnicking by tourists. The mountain got its name from the neighboring village of Obava.
