Mini-sculpture of Ferenc Rakoczy II
The mini-sculpture of the Hungarian national hero Ferenc Rakoczy II was installed on October 24, 2015. It became the second mini-sculpture of sculptor Mykhailo Kolodko in Mukachevo. The sculpture is installed on Sobornii Street (former Pushkin Street). This mini-sculpture is grotesque, symbolic, it is mounted on a column, below which are mounted symbolic rings. In ancient times, horses were tied to such columns. The place for the installation of the mini-sculpture was not chosen by chance, because until 1945 this square was named after Ferenc Rakoczy. The inscription: “With God for the Motherland and Freedom” is engraved under the mini-sculpture.
This slogan was popular in Mukachevo during the national liberation uprising of the smokers of 1703-1711. Ferenc Rakoczy himself lived in Mukachevo Castle, with short breaks, from 1680 to 1711. The best years of his life were spent here.
