Unique village of Tysobyken
In the village of Tysobyken, there is a stone church of the late 13th and early 14th centuries, which has belonged to the Reformed community since the 16th century. It is one of the oldest Romanesque churches in Transcarpathia . The church bell tower was built in the 1960s.
In Tysobyken, there is the Zatsytyn Museum of Local Lore, opened in the 1970s in the neoclassical building of the 1895 palace of the Counts Fogorosh. Nearby is a picturesque count’s park with plane trees and linden trees. The exposition is dedicated to the life of the Hungarian-speaking population of the district. The most interesting exhibits in the museum are folk ceramics, Viennese Baroque furniture and souvenirs. The museum has a conference hall with 50 seats. In addition, it is possible to organise folklore evenings.
There is a small skansen in the museum’s courtyard, where you can see several old buildings:
- A teacher’s house from 1920;
- the manors of a middle-class man in 1882 and a poor man in 1918;
- the Greek Catholic Church (former chapel of the Counts Fogorosh).
The museum is located at 74, T. Shevchenka St. Contact phone number: +380971794231.
