Waterfall Kaplyvets

At a distance of 5 km from the railway station Mykulychyn there is another interesting waterfall called Kaplyvets. The waterfall is located on the territory of the former village of Yamna in the south-eastern part of the modern city of Yaremche. You won’t find it on maps, which creates an aura of mystery when looking for it. This is a great advantage, as there are no crowds of tourists here and you can enjoy its beauty and melodious noise in peace and quiet. Being in this cosy place in the Ukrainian Carpathians at an altitude of 650 metres above sea level, you can spend hours enjoying the beauty of nature and taking incredible photos.

Features of the Kaplyvets waterfall

This picturesque waterfall is the result of the intersection of a small stream Pyshnyi with a rock massif of the flysch type. After the flood in June 2020, the Kaplyvets waterfall consists of three cascades, the highest of which is 4 metres high. Due to severe water erosion, the waterfall is getting smaller every year, so you should definitely visit it before it disappears completely.

Despite the fact that Kaplyvets waterfall is not as powerful as its sister waterfall Zhenetskyi Huk, it is photogenic and has a sonorous, melodious, delicate water noise, which is most likely the origin of its name.

How to get to Kaplyvets Waterfall?

To get to the Kaplyvets waterfall from Mykulychyn, you should follow the Prut River along Svobody Street on the right bank of the river. After walking for about an hour, you should cross the bridge, turn left, and then, behind the houses, go into the forest to the waterfall. It is only 500 metres from the bridge.
