Church of St Paraskeva in the village of Oleksandrivka
Near the church in the village of Danylovo, Khust district, Zakarpattia region, the road turns to the right and leads past a hill with a church. Two kilometers away is the cozy village of Oleksandrivka, Khust district, Zakarpattia region, with a population of 2,200. The main decoration of the village is the church of St. Paraskeva, which stands on a hill. It was built in 1753, although there is a version that the lower part of the temple was built in the 15th century. The harmonious forms of the shrine are a man-made continuation of the low mountains in the middle of which Oleksandrivka is located.
In the Soviet times, since 1969, the village local history museum operated in the temple. Favorite exhibits of the local children were not embroidered shirts, not old irons and not even unique paintings of 1799, which cover almost every centimeter of the walls of the temple. Schoolchildren were attracted by a stand with paper money that was used in Maramoroschyna at different times. There were also Austro-Hungarian, Czech, Romanian, and Soviet banknotes.
In 2002, the staff of the Lviv Institute of Archeology carried out a partial restoration of the temple, but due to the lack of funding, the work was not continued. In 2018, the church received the status of an architectural monument of national significance. Nowadays, the church of St. Paraskeva is inactive. It is in an extremely neglected state and is gradually falling apart. Significant funds are needed for its restoration.
