This mini-sculpture by Mykhailo Kolodko was installed on September 2, 2018, near the entrance door to the Uzhgorod Children’s School of Arts on Sandor Petefi Square. The installation of this mini-masterpiece was initiated by the Consulate General of Hungary in Uzhgorod with the support of the Uzhgorod City Council. Ferenc Erkel was an outstanding Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor, and teacher. Together with Ferenc Liszt, Ferenc Erkel initiated in 1872 the construction of the new building of the Opera House in Budapest, erected in 1884, and became its conductor from the day of its opening.
