The Assistant of St Nicholas is the first mini-sculpture in Uzhhorod. It was created by Mykhailo Kolodko. It is located on the railing in the middle of Teatralna Square. Almost immediately, Uzhhorod residents began to affectionately call it Mykolaychyk. The figure of the little helper is made of bronze. The height of the miniature Mykolaychyk is only 16 cm, but it weighs 12 kg. Almost immediately after its installation, the sculpture became the centre of St Nicholas Day celebrations and charity auctions in the city.
Address: Pravoslavna naberezhna, 1 (GPS: 48.621217, 22.297856).
The author of this mini-sculpture was also Mykhailo Kolodko. It was installed on 27 July 2010, not as a tribute to friendship with the United States, but on the occasion of the so-called Uzhhorod Regatta, a kind of competition of homemade boats on the Uzh River. The reason for the creation of this nice sculpture was an angry appeal from Ukrrichflot about the inadmissibility of navigation on rivers without their consent. The official name of the sculpture is the Ungvar lighthouse, but people call it Svobodka. The statue is a mini-lighthouse with a light-emitting diode built into the torch. So it serves as a symbolic and slightly sarcastic message to Ukrrichflot from the city’s community.

The mini-sculpture of Ferenc List, about 20 cm high, was installed in Uzhhorod on the railing of Botanichna embankment opposite the Philharmonic on 7 May 2012. The author is Mykhailo Kolodko. In the summer of 2012, a part of a tree fell on the railing, it was completely destroyed, and the fragment with the little Leaf strangely disappeared. In January 2017, the bronze mini-masterpiece once again disappeared from the Uzh embankment. This time it was decided to move it from its unfortunate location to a new one in the heart of the city.

Schweik is a world-famous character in the anti-war novel about the First World War, The Adventures of the Brave Soldier Schweik, written by Czech writer Jaroslav Hasek. The unveiling of the Uzhhorod Schweik was even attended by the writer’s grandson, Richard. This mini-sculpture was erected as a celebration of Ukrainian-Czech friendship and a monument to post-war Uzhhorod.
For this mini-masterpiece, we chose a symbolic place on the fragments of the railing, where bullet holes were preserved from the battles during the Second World War. In his hand, Švejk holds a traditional Czech dough dish – a dumpling. It is symbolic that in the Czech military during the First World War, dumpling was not only a name for a famous delicacy, but also used to mean “fool”, “dumb”, “stupid”.
