Uzhotskyi pass

There are enough roads in Transcarpathia. All of them pass through the Carpathian passes, and each of them offers wonderful views. It is not easy to choose a gate to the Transcarpathian region, because each option has its advantages. But the best way to travel to Transcarpathia is through the Uzhotskyi pass (altitude 883 meters).

In addition to picturesque landscapes, the advantage of this option is that it is the shortest way to the capital of the Zakarpattia region – the city of Uzhgorod ( 80 kilometers from the pass). In addition, the quality of the asphalt here is excellent and there is less congestion (trucks choose other routes).

Ужоцький перевал

There is something extraordinary and beautiful in the Carpathian Mountains. Majestic trees touch the clouds, forests protect the secrets of past wars in the thickets, grass and moss cover the remains of trenches and trenches. Bloody battles were fought for these territories during both world wars.

On the border of the Lviv and Zakarpattia regions, near the Uzhotskyi pass, near the top of Mount Cheremkha, an eerie pyramid was built. Aromas of polony are pacifying. But the inscriptions on the stone pyramid structure suggest something completely different. In Hungarian, German, and Russian, the words of memory to the fallen soldiers and officers of all armies who fought here during the First World War are engraved. During the period from 1914 to 1915, the front passed through this area very often. Fifteen nearby villages were destroyed.

In 2007, the stone pyramid was renovated, burials were arranged. This monument stands as a reminder to us of the fragility of peaceful life.
